Press Release

New Year Takes Off with Sydney Hotel Sale

The picture perfect Village Inn, prominently located in Sydney’s upmarket inner-city suburb of Paddington, has been sold to an interstate investor by leading agency HTL Property in a positive sign for the national hotel landscape.

The hotel was listed for sale by popular industry owner-operator Brody Peterson of the Parlour Group; which also owns the iconic Hotel Hollywood (Surry Hills) and Riley Street Garage (Darlinghurst).

The hotel sale was managed by Sam Handy and Blake Edwards of HTL Property; in conjunction with Stef Ippolito of IB Property.

The hotel is currently leased by well known hotelier Ben Stehr of Stehr Hospitality; whilst a DA is lodged to repurpose the upper floors of the building.

The sale continues an emerging trend amongst investors acquiring freehold pubs with intentions of leasing the freehold to a tenant possessing the expertise to activate a more sophisticated food and beverage proposition upon the trading footprint.

‘We’re absolutely delighted with the outcome on the Village Inn and are excited to see what the new owners will do” advised Vendor, Brody Peterson.

The prominent three level building overlooks Paddington’s revered Intersection precinct, known as the unofficial home to Australia’s best collection of fashion brands.

The hotel is also very well positioned to capitalise upon the significant increase in patron visitation to Allianz Stadium; which will feature regular sporting events, concerts and festivals over the course of the year.

‘We’ve been speaking with a lot of Paddington and Woollahra hoteliers over the last few months, and they’re all reporting record trade levels and feeling incredibly optimistic about the trading prospects for the year ahead” commented HTL Property Director, Sam Handy.

The sale of Sydney’s Village Inn follows a record year of sales in 2022 for the national pub industry.

“Our offices have been inundated already this year with investor enquiry regarding acquisition opportunities; and the announcement of this sale so early in the New Year speaks to the market confidence we are certain will feature prominently again in 2023” concluded HTL Property National Director, Dan Dragicevich.
