Neutral Bay’s Pickled Possum Goes to Market

Famed for serving drinks from Eskys, the Freehold Going Concern interest of the Pickled Possum in Neutral Bay has been listed for sale.

Named after the possums that used to hang over the door frames in the hope of being fed by patrons, the late-night karaoke bar is considered an institution and rite of passage by both Lower North Shore and Northern Beaches residents alike.

Leading pub brokerage HTL Property has been appointed to steer the sale process, with agents Sam Handy, Andrew Jolliffe and Ben Kennedy acting under instructions from Joseph Hansell and Vaughan Strawbridge of FTI Consulting in their capacity as joint Receivers & Managers.

The venue is strategically located on Military Road, in close proximity to the main retail catchment within Neutral Bay, comprising national retailers such as Woolworths, Coles, and Chemist Warehouse. The precinct is also home to several popular bars and restaurants, including SoCal, Honey Rider Brewery, The Hideout Bar and Firefly Bar & Dining.

The Venue has rare extended trading hour approval and is licensed to trade until 2:00am between Monday and Saturday. It is anticipated, that it will appeal to a broad range of hospitality buyer segments including hoteliers, restaurateurs, bar operators, craft beer brewers, wineries, and even spirits distillers.

Initial potential planning and architectural commentaries for an amalgamated site have been undertaken and are available for prospective purchasers.

Vacant possession is being offered for sale, with the agents noting that the existing tenant is extremely motivated to negotiate a new lease if the incoming owner is an investor seeking a passive income.

The Pickled Possum is being sold via Expression of Interest, with the campaign scheduled to close at 5:00pm on Thursday, 7 August 2025.
