Leading national agency HTL Property is very proud to announce the sale of the Goonellabah Tavern (G’Bah), in a transaction believed to be the second largest regional pub sale in NSW this year.
The “off market” sale was brokered by HTL property Director, Blake Edwards; only days after HTL’s successful sale of the Northside Hotel in Albury for $27m.
“The numbers for this asset are immense, 30 gaming machines, 3am liquor licence Monday to Saturday and an imposing 9,100m2 of block of land” commented HTL Property Director, Blake Edwards.
The legendary Northern Rivers asset represents a sprawling freehold going concern tavern perched on the hilltop suburb of Goonellabah, just outside Lismore and only a 45 minute drive to Byron Bay. Featuring a bar, bistro, gaming room with 30 GMEs, 3 room motel and a drive through bottle shop; the hotel is located amidst a large catchment of customers, with virtually no immediate competition from other pubs.
The successful purchaser is new entrant into the NSW pub market, Stu Horner; who was previously the licensee and co-owner of the Gracemere Tavern in Rockhampton (also recently sold by HTL Property). “We would like to thank the vendors for a smooth transition during hand over, and look forward to being the community focused custodians of this fantastic asset for the foreseeable future” Horner added.
“After a sound 2023 and 2024, sale prices for pubs in regional NSW have reached a new zenith this year; eclipsing even that of the previous highs made around the middle of 2022” continued HTL Property Director, Blake Edwards.
“Few property backed asset classes offer the cash on cash returns that traditional hotels do, and consequently the weight of unsatisfied capital looking for deployment opportunities remains vast” concluded HTL Property Managing Director, Andrew Jolliffe.
End.
