Press Release

Alarm Bells Ringing in North Sydney

HTL Property is privileged to present to market for the first time in history, the exceptional Fire House Hotel, prominently positioned in the epicentre of North Sydney’s bustling CBD. The sale is being exclusively managed by Andrew Jolliffe and Dan Dragicevich of market-leading specialist brokerage firm HTL Property, and via an Expression of Interest campaign closing Wednesday 20th August.

This offering represents the first public sale of a North Sydney CBD freehold hotel asset in over 40 years. Meticulously rebuilt, the architecturally striking, multi-storey venue commands attention with its ornate façade, pristine interiors, and expansive first-floor outdoor terrace.

“This legendary building commenced its life pouring water from firehoses in 1895, and now pours beer out of its 30 beer taps over 140 years later” advised HTL Property Managing Director, Andrew Jolliffe.

“Few hotels demonstrate such a thoughtful and comprehensive approach to design, presentation, and customer experience — accordingly, the Fire House Hotel enjoys a deserved reputation as one of the best in its class Australia wide” Jolliffe added.

Privately held since its establishment in 2007 and wholly reimagined in 2021, the hugely popular venue now offers a genuine turnkey opportunity within one of Sydney’s fastest-growing commercial and residential precincts.

“The remarkable revitalisation of North Sydney — highlighted by the recent opening of the Victoria Cross Metro Rail Station — has catalysed significant growth in both corporate and residential populations within the harbourside suburb” believes HTL Property National Pubs Director, Dan Dragicevich.

The Fire House Hotel benefits from 28 Electronic Gaming Machines (EGMs) and a currently underutilzed by very valuable 3am trading licence.

“Few hotels Australia-wide enjoy the benefit of position, prominence, providence and performance; but in this example, the Fire House Hotel employs all the levers sought after by the most astute actors in this asset class” added Jolliffe.

The Fire House Hotel is prominently located in the middle of North Sydney’s transformation zone, adjacent to landmark developments including the award-winning 88 Walker tower (which cantilevers over the hotel and houses the 252-room Citadines Hotel), Nine Entertainment Co’s headquarters at 1 Denison Street, and the 35-storey Dexus tower at 100 Mount Street.

“We’ve had the privilege of representing some of the country’s most iconic hospitality assets, and the Fire House Hotel is undoubtedly in the top tier — not only for its grandeur and positioning, but also for its strong trading performance and operational efficiency” concluded Dragicevich.
